Mindfulness brings awareness. Awareness is the process by which we move things from the subconscious to the conscious realm. Somatic experiencing of any realisations is probably the best way to integrate and to release them.
Using mindfulness to identify where we judge ourselves and others is a wonderful way to clear away the shackles of conditioning. Joy naturally arises.
In yoga, mindful breath can be used to trace out our inner edges. To identify where we are tight, where we hold on, where we are afraid to let go. As we breathe light into the edges, we start to become aware not only of the physical tightness but of those things that our body is holding for us until we are ready and strong enough to feel them, to bring them into awareness.
In this way, mindful yoga is a deeply healing practice of self-care.
