Food on the retreat is prepared by Gertrud and her team. She considers it an artform. The delicious creations please the eye and quickly re-balance the digestion.
The food is vegan, sugar and gluten free, much of it raw, some of it cooked. Gertrud’s flavours are inspired by Asia, Africa and Europe. She is best known for her raw breakfasts and seriously decadent raw deserts.

Located in the medieval village of Chalabre, Yobaba Lounge is known for its bohemian style and warm welcome.
We LOVE the shala. On the top floor of this elegant old house, it faces the rising sun and overlooks the medieval roof tops.
It is just under 100 sqm (1,000 sqf) in size.
This year saw us launch Yoga at the Orangery, and Gertrud went down under. There was popup yoga on the beach and popup workshops in Sydney and Canberra. We also started to open the house in between retreat times, which proved popular and which will continue to be available. We met gorgeous people again and made special friends during this season.
This season, Gertrud introduced her deeply healing practice of Embodied Meditation - the yoga of breath, mindfulness and movement. Joyous service and food preparation remained firmly at the centre of everything we do, and many new dishes were developed. A cook book is on the horizon.
The retreat structure continues to hold us beautifully, the periods of delicious Silence proving popular also with those of our guests who had not previously experienced it.
We continued this season with the format developed the previous year. Pristine yoga, beautiful food, and a strong hold allowed our guests to retreat from the stresses of their daily lives. Although a much used term, the retreats proved transformative for all concerned.
We were blessed this season with the addition of Mangalo, a Buddhist and experienced retreat teacher. He introduced an improved structure, periods of Noble Silence each day and a classical, pristine yoga practice. Our retreats won international acclaim.
