A Yoga and Poetry Retreat for Creatresses with
Naela Rose and Rebecca Tantony
Song of Myself is a blissful journey back to Self through movement, poetry, and sound. This magical five day retreat for Creatresses - held by very special guest facilitators here at Yobaba Lounge - offers a tranquil space for women to reconnect with their innate creativity.
This juicy retreat is a heartfelt offering to any woman who senses she has magic inside her; any woman who longs to fearlessly express her truth, or who believes she has creative gifts to share with the world.
It is an earnest invitation to all women to step forward; to claim your divinity, to revel in the perfection of your mess, and to celebrate your complex and beautiful wilderness!
The two main daily workshops will be a morning yoga class and afternoon writer's workshops, each designed to bring you back into connection with your creativity, your body, your intuition, your voice, and your innate feminine power.
The daily structure will be punctuated by mouth-watering vegan food, periods of noble silence, sunbathing in the garden, frolicking in nature and wild-swimming.
Each morning you will be guided through a simple, yet invigorating, Hatha yoga and vocal-yoga practice to help you ground into your body and to open, stimulate, and explore your physical voice. In the afternoon you will be led into playful and wondrous world of words through a dynamic creative writing workshop, designed to unleash your artistic voice and expand on the themes that have arisen from the morning yoga session.
Facilitated by power-house Creatresses, Naela Rose and Rebecca Tantony, this retreat will provide you with inspiring, life-changing tools for expressing, as well as a potent creative space within which to safely investigate and uncover your inner artist; to explore what it really feels like to identify, describe and express the texture of your soul’s unique song.
By playing with the power of words, movement and sound the workshops will help stimulate your creative flow so that you can start to let it resonate from a place of joy, strength and non-judgment. The beautiful tools both Naela and Rebecca employ will help you to come into a rich and visceral connection with your authentic voice and enable you to speak your deepest truths (in whatever language is native to you).
We all have that voice within us that whispers: “you were meant for so much more than this! You were made to shine!”… The one that longs to explore and express the fullness of your unique and magnificent song – the song of yourself.
It’s time to let her sing out!
Naela Rose is a Yogini, Creatress, and Singer-songwriter passionate about exploring the nature of consciousness, healing, and magic through the body. Originally from the UK, Naela moved to the South of France in 2015, where she trained in the mystical arts of Tantric Yoga and Embodied Mediation (EM) at renowned wellness centre Yobaba Lounge and where she continues to work as a Yogini in residence.
Naela describes the yoga she shares, first and foremost, as a Self-love practice. The mindfulness tools she employs provide a sensory framework through which students can joyfully explore their inner-universe and ultimately guide themselves into a deeper, more visceral connection with Self and Source.
Through combining her life-long-love of singing with her studies of devotional yogic ritual Naela has woven together a simple, yet powerful, vocal-yoga practice, designed to help women liberate their inner-voice. Her practice is made up of three core principles – breath, movement and sound – with a strong focus on freeing self-expression and energy flow by tapping into the mystical powers of the earth, the pelvic bowl, and the chakra system. Naela skillfully fuses Hatha yoga with Tantric principles, Indian classical Hindustani vocal techniques and EM to create a potent, yet accessible, yoga practice. By using the body as an instrument for change Naela's soothing and expansive yoga aids deep self-investigation, manifestation and healing.
On this retreat Naela will share her 'Song of Myself' yoga format, developed as part of her personal spiritual journey and her ongoing study of EM and music. All retreatants will receive a daily yoga session - combining basic asanas and vocal-yoga exercises - designed to strengthen and open the voice and encourage you to investigate the unique texture of your being by guiding you into a delicious dialog with your inner-knowing, your fundamental creative truths, and your essential voice.
Rebecca Tantony is a writer and facilitator fascinated by understanding the messy and wild human in greater depth. Her work offers, ‘a tapestry of intricate themes, bold writing and passionate intensity, creating a lyrical conversation straight to the heart.’
A poet and writer living and working in Bristol, England, she has read on the BBC, Radio Four, and was featured within The Guardian, who described her writing as 'mesmerising'. She is the author of collections 'Talk You Round Till Dusk' (Burning Eye, 2015) and ‘All The Journeys I Never Took,’ (Burning Eye, 2017) and is currently working on her third collection, ‘Singing My Mother’s Song,’ funded by The Arts Council, U.K. 'Singing My Mother’s Song' is both a personal and social commentary, which unites artists from South Africa and The U.K. In 2017 she received an MA in Creative Writing and a distinction for her final manuscript.
Rebecca is currently teaching the Performance Poetry Module and general Creative Writing to BA students at Bath Spa University. She has taught workshops in schools as part of the secondary curriculum, outside of schools to those excluded from education, to ex offenders, primary and the elderly. For the past few years Rebecca has offered specialised workshops for women in retreat environments, and finds the immersion and magic created in these spaces life changing.
Rebecca believes everyone has a story and unique way of telling it, with the right techniques and tools the route to creation is opened up, and the opportunity to express becomes limitless. The writing workshops Rebecca will be sharing on this retreat offer an intimate and nurturing space for women to explore themselves and the world we inhabit. Divided into three sections, we will examine technique, practise, overcome blockages, and step into the power of sharing, so to ignite our creativity; using it as a powerful avenue to come back to our bodies, our voices, and our innate ability to transform and inspire.
Michelle Denny trained as a Chiropractor and has been in private practice in the UK for over 12 years. After many years of treating in various clinics all over the country, Michelle began to question her deeper reason for serving others and to tire of the very physical methods that she was using to treat the body. It was then that she discovered Network Spinal Analysis (NSA).
Michelle brings this healing work to Yobaba as a way of supporting the beautiful process Naela and Rebecca will hold. To guide your body gently, to allow you to keep opening into your creative power. To create safety within your nervous system, so that the old can drop away and the new can embed itself naturally. To empower you through the release of unwanted tension, so your creative centres can flourish more freely and a conscious awakening within body, mind and spirit, can unfold with ease.
Michelle is also a vocalist and spent many years writing with producers and experimenting with her vocal sound. As she has journeyed through her own creative blocks and energies, she has found a correlation to our expression and the woundings and patterns we hold within our body and mind. She believes that the more our bodies feel safe and the less those protective patternings guide our behaviour, we can begin to find peace within our minds and our souls inner voice can really be heard and allowed to shine through.
